week 22 - presentation day

the day had come where we had to present what we had done. it also gave us a chance to see what other groups had been doing and was interesting to see how different groups approached there task, they also gave us the chance to reflect on what we had done, what we would do differently next time and what i thought we did well. Kate asked us all a question and i felt that we answered them all confidently and thoroughly, showing that we all had an input to the project and a good understanding of the task. we are now approaching the end of year 2, and there is lots to do for other assignments. i need to stay on top of my time management to ensure that i do not get left behind and i am not rushing to do everything at the last minute, not to the best of my ability.

week 21 - final adjustments

The team met up for a meeting during the week and analysed what we had left to do. We have editing to do for the video for our client and the next week is our presentation. Although the presentation has been completed on Video Scribe, I thought it was important to prepare for questions that we were going to be asked after the video. The presentation was worth 20% and it wasn't worth losing marks on the questions which we were asked after putting so much effort into making the video. so we began thinking of potential questions that Kate might ask us.

week 20 - placement

this week a couple of the group weren't there, Keddy was at hospital, Ryan was at a placement interview so it was quite a relaxed environment as we didn't have Ryan to push us. so i took this time to clean up my cv, write a cover letter, and apply for some more placements. i wasn't feeling very confident at this point as i had applied for a placement which really suited me and i was keen to get an interview with them, unfortunately they have not replied yet, but i am not going to let this knock my confidence as i feel a placement years the right thing for me so i can get the hands on experience with marketing that i feel i need.

week 19 - the video

we only managed to get interviews with one agency, however we interview three members of their team and i feel this just about gave us enough information, although we wanted more, we just didn't get the responses. next also we had to start making a 5 minute video for our client  (as well as having other assignments in that week). at first we thought that the 5 minute video would not be difficult to do, however this was not the case and it took much longer than we first thought (9 hours to be precise). we chose to use videoscibe in order to make the video; Chris oversaw designing the video, he had had previous experience on the software so volunteered for the role. Matt was the voice over the video and Ryan created the script while Keddy and I complied data we had collected and put them into graphs for added visuals on presentation. the process was very long, but we finished it and went for a well deserved pint after.

week 18 - the interview

we had the interview on Friday, and overall i was very happy with how it went, they were all very welcoming at indie springs and showed us round and introduced us to the team. we were offered drinks and they wanted us to feel relaxed in their very chilled environment. they told us how they would play games and do active things such as play the wii, so it wasn't all work and they was some play. it made me very keen to get into a similar environment in the future. the interviews all went very smoothly and we got all the information we needed and they were happy to answer all the questions that we asked, they gave detailed responses. we wanted to try and make it an informal interview rather than a formal one as it made them more relaxed, it also made the video more interesting and suitable for students to watch rather than a formal interview. overall very successful.

week 17- confirming the day

i had lost contact with meg over the week but messaged her and got a reply fairly quickly and we manage to sort a day and a time to go and interview them, we were feeling more optimistic at this point as meg was keen to help us out. we started to come up with a range of questions which we were going to ask them for example 'what is a typical day for you at indie springs?' and 'what were you wish you were told before you started in this type of business environment'. we asked questions that we as students wanted to know the answers to, we wanted to get advice from them and ask them what they would do differently and what they would do the same.

week 16 - responses

at last we finally got a response from 'indie springs' who were a manchester based marketing agency, who were happy to help us with our task. i do back and n forth emails with meg (indiesprings) in order to organise a date and a time where we could go in and do the email. This was a relief as we were starting get worried as we were getting no replies; however we wanted to get at least 2 interviews with different agencies so we compare their answers and see where some agencies were different to others and just generally to get a wider range of answers.

week 15 - creative brief

in the tutorial Kate told us how to make a creative brief, however we were confused as to whether it was necessary for us to do one. as a team we decided that we were not going to make one as it would consummate much time that we didn't have. we also still had no replies from the email and we had sent to about 20 agencies at this point, which added pressure. when we realised that we didn't have any replies we finished off sending the email to all 40 agencies and hoped we started to get some replies in. we tried to stay positive as it had only been a week, but the pressure started to build.

week 14 - devising the email

this week our objective was to finish the email, and begin to send it to the 40 business agencies. we did one email and then change certain words depending on what type of agency it was (public relation/marketing/sales) as we simply did not have enough time to send individually written emails and meant that we could start sending the emails asap. it was a relief that we had finally finished the email and we could start sending the email, and start to receive replies and organise interviews.

week 13 - devising the email

this week we started to devise an email to send to 40 different agencies, advertising what we were doing and that we needed their help to do it - we were also a man down as Keddy had fallen very ill and had take time off to recover. it took us a while to get started with it as we were all still a little bit confused on what we had to ask the businesses, so we needed to get in touch with Bex to find out exactly what she wanted from us. Because we were confused, this added stress to the group as we knew that time was running out and we had to crack on.

week 12 - assignment feedback

The first week back, we had a recap to remember what we had accomplished as a team in the first term. in the first week back we also received our mark for the first term which i received 53 - i was not happy with this mark as i feel that i could've done better if i applied myself more however i feel that this mark was deserved. we had a 1 on 1with Kate and she told me how improve my mark, she said that i needed to be more reflective in my PDR
